We strive to set a standard, so part of our best practice is providing Due Diligence through disclosing how we book, and how a new guest consultation gives service options & pricing for your hair. We work together to give the level of service you deserve. If a stylist has specialist in their bio, this means they have advanced training in that area of service.
Master Stylists and Colorists
The history of our industry is vast, but the first influencer was an iconic stylist named Vidal Sassoon. He owned high end salons around the world and he believed the foundation of all hair style is achieved through a haircut. So that skill should be prioritized, and we agree. You can’t blend extensions, compliment color, or keep hair healthy, without good cutting skills.
Beauty schools focus on basics for graduates to pass a State Board test that is decades old. Most modern master stylists don’t do many of the services on the state board test. Our industry is trend driven, which is why beauty schools encourage graduates to seek salons that offer mentor programs. Few salons offer this because it requires costly salon resources, so over time salon service quality has decreased. If you’ve left a salon thinking it was a good visit because you didn’t hate your hair, that’s an prime example of a slow decline in industry standard.
Master Stylists are Mentors
Before social media, booth rental, and chain salons, stylists developed through mentoring. A good stylist can make a customer satisfied, but an exceptional stylist understands anatomy and chemistry. Studio 39 owner was mentored by a salon owner and master stylist who was a leader in the salon world. That type of mentoring continues here because it cultivates skill early. Guests see it in how our team explains how to obtain your hair goals with good communication & salon skills learned from a real Master Stylist.
